Jesus On War

Once again I met Jesus, this time while he was washing dishes in a diner. “Jesus, it is so nice to see you again,” I said.

“Thank you my son,” he answered. “What is troubling you?”

“War,“ I replied. “War is destroying us, and this despite your biblical quotes urging mankind to turn the other cheek, and to love and forgive one-another.”

“What can we do to stop these wars and bring peace to the world,“ I asked Jesus.

“You must first find peace within yourself,“ Jesus replied. “When each of you can find peace within yourselves, you will bring peace to the world.”

“Peace is based upon love, forgiveness and kindness to others,” Jesus added.

“Wars rage today because most of you sit in silence while they are fought, rather than acting as peacemakers. This is unacceptable to me, and I hope to you.”

“It is unacceptable, but we can’t help ourselves. Won’t you intervene,” I pleaded.

“No,“ Jesus replied. “It is up to each of you to bring peace to the world, using my lessons. Otherwise there will be no personal growth, just dependence on me.”

And then he smiled, gave me a hug and returned to washing dishes.
