California has begun issuing new driver's licenses with beautiful images of redwoods, poppies, and the coastline and incorporates enhanced security elements like a digital security signature. Name and birth date are stored in the barcode.
And while I have yet to verify this, rumor has it that new California licenses will soon have 3 other features:
1) For people unhappy with their photos, estimated to be over 90%, they can replace them with Star Wars characters Yoda or Princess Leia, Disney characters Yosemite Sam or Doc McStuffins, or any South Park or Simpsons character.
2) The mighty grizzly bear image will become a mellow grizzly bear smoking Cannabis.
3) To protect against theft, stolen licenses will instantly trigger a dye pack chip which will detonate with a purple haze of paint and smoke. This should be especially effective in catching teenagers "borrowing" their parents' driver's licenses to buy beer.
