Do You Recognize Me?

It was George's time to pass, and as his spirit arrived through the heavenly gates, a magnificent Angel was there to greet him.

She was wearing a flowing white robe and had a smile of profound love.

But as George stood before her, she asked softly, "Do you recognize me?"

"I don't," he replied. "Then let me help you," she answered.

Suddenly she took the image of a homeless woman, one that George had seen many times from a distance near his home.

"Now I recognize you," said George, stunned by what he was seeing.

"In all the times you saw me," asked the Angel, "Did you do anything to ease my pain?"

As she asked the question, an old shopping cart appeared alongside her, one that contained all the homeless woman's worldly possessions.

"Do you see those blankets," she asked. "During cold, rainy nights I piled them on top of myself for warmth, as I tried to stay dry."

"You didn't know that did you," she said. "Because you didn't think about it."

"I just assumed you were an alcoholic," said George. "And I kept my distance."

"If I was an alcoholic, would I have been any less worthy of your caring for me?"

"Did you even once offer to buy something for me to eat? Did you even once talk to me? Did you even ask my name?"

George stood in silence.

"George, you're going to be reborn into the very low dimension known as earth, because you're not yet ready to advance to a higher dimension."

"This time however, lovingly offer a helping hand to those in need, and you will discover that life is a spiritual journey of unconditional love."

"When you learn that lesson, you will find the heavenly gates will welcome you, in the same way you welcomed others. And you will know in your heart, that you are one with all spiritual beings."
