Which Is More Valuable, Money, Power Or Wisdom?

Long ago, there was a wizard, a sorcerer with great powers. One day, this wizard decided to grant a single wish to each of three seekers he felt were deserving.

The first seeker said, "I desire great wealth, for that will fulfill my life." Without saying a word in reply, the wizard nodded his head and in an instant, a large bag of gold coins appeared.

The second seeker said, "My greatest wish has been for power, a sense of control over others. Without saying a word in reply, the wizard again nodded his head, and in an instant, a golden jewel filled crown appeared, along with a grant of authority to rule a small city state.

The third seeker smiled and bowed his head to the wizard. And then in a soft voice said, "My desire is to have wisdom, and to be wise and humble in its use." In response, the wizard's eyes sparkled and a big smile beamed across his face.

"In making such a request," the wizard replied, "You already have the beginning of wisdom. For in having wisdom and using it wisely and humbly you have a gift far greater than money or power can ever offer.

"For wisdom wisely applied will gain for you not only money and power if that is what you seek, but it will open your heart to far greater riches including the love and respect of others and a closer bond with all of mankind, your brethren.

"It is with great joy I grant you this wish, and it is granted with the hope that even with its use, you will always be as humble as you are today."
