In 2016, Brazilian physiotherapist Igor Simoes Andrade began “boto therapy” (In Portuguese, botos are pink freshwater dolphins) to help people with physical and mental disabilities. They benefit by swimming and playing with the botos.
Recognizing what a great idea this is, and seeing a need among botos who have physical and mental disabilities, I recruited people for them to swim and play with.
So far, my idea is not working.
The troubled botos have been pecking and head bumping the people. Instead of giving up, I’m thinking of replacing the people with crabs, so that if the therapy doesn’t work, the botos can still have a good meal.
