In business news, Jack in the Box is selling Del Taco to Yadav Enterprises at a loss of over $400 million! Jack in the Box paid $585 million in 2022 and selling now for $115 million. Yadav owns many Denny’s and El Pollo Locos, TGI Friday’s, etc.
Curious how Jack in the Box in only 3 short years could turn $585 million into $115 million, for purposes of what will now be this fable, I asked their CEO.
CEO: “I turned our operation over to the clown from our commercials and he made terrible decisions.”
DK: Why did you do that?
CEO: “Because our shareholders had more confidence in him than me.“
DK: Why did they have so little confidence in you?
CEO: “Because I ran an ad campaign on the Funeral Channel and they put our ads between caskets and cremation. How could I know Funeral Channel viewers would be upset and not buy our food.
DK: What did you learn from this?
CEO: “Two things!”
“1st, People don’t buy food while they’re crying. They eat Häagen-Dazs from their freezers.“
“2nd, Never turn your business over to someone who’s only schooling is clown college.”
DK: Do you have any good news to offer?
CEO: “Yes! I am being replaced by Ronald McDonald.”
DK: But isn’t he a clown?
CEO: “He is a clown but he sounds pretty bright. We all think he went to Harvard.“
